Abstract

The schools, in their everyday activities, place great emphasis on the educational and the ideological character of instruction. Those components are contained in every subject, from physical education through mathematics and Bosnian language class subject. Nevertheless, we need to recognize that history, both as a science and a subject, holds a special place in the instruction process both in terms of accomplishment of the educational tasks
and the ideological character of the instruction as a whole. The piimary task of the history teacher is to teach the students how to understand and completely adopt the contents of the historical matter presented. The teacher also helps them recognize the paths and means used in the hist01ical past, which may aid in resolving of the ongoing tasks of the present day. It needs to be emphasized that there are no bounda1ies between educational goals and goals of the upbringing. In fact, the scholarly perception represents the necessary and integral part of upb1inging. The students are taught on justice, trnth, progress, love for the homeland as well as how to aspire for all that is progressive on the example of the war for the defense and liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the example of the preservation of the Bosniac identity through history, as well as other examples. "Those who do not learn their history are condemned to repeat it". Will the Bosniacs repeat their history again ... ?
