The world where in we live is undoubtedly undergoing various social, political and cultural changes. The image or even ideal of homogenous society, that is, to say the least, still preserved by some segments of the society is forever in the past. Therefore, religion must not remain silent regarding these tectonic alterations. What more, the determining the shape of coexistence has long ago become a task of the highest priority, if the society is not to lose its coherence, its inner cohesion and if it is not to become dispersed into a number of parallel societies of its own religious and/or ethnic foundation. Renowned German theologian is here offering conception of “theology of coexistence” with a contemporary interpretation of the holy texts as an answer to this important issue. The author refers to the Christian theological tradition as well as to the tradition of other revealed religions what gives this article tremendous significance regarding our contemporary state as well.
