Abstract

Here author discusses language, alphabets, education andliteracy in medieval Bosnian state, with an accent on the Institution for higher education of Bosnian Church. The official language in medieval Bosnia was Bosnian, written in Bosancica alphabets. Quoting the experts on medieval Bosnia, Djuro Basler and Dominik Mandić, he states that we may rightly claim today that the Bosnian Church had its Institution for higher education as early as 1175 or 1180. We have reason to believe, says the author, that the students of the Institution of higher education in Gornja Bila, beside theological and philosophical studies, learnt natural sciences and philology with an accent on Latin language.
