In this paper, the author presents a tafsīr (interpretation) of Sūrat al-Ṣaff (The Ranks), the 61st chapter of the Qur’an, which consists of fourteen verses, employing a verse-by-verse method. The sūrah derives its name from the word ṣaff (row or rank), mentioned in the fourth verse. It is also known as Sūrah al-Ḥawāriyyūn. It was revealed in Medina, most likely shortly after the Battle of Uḥud. According to the author, the central theme of the sūrah is the motivation of believers toward sincerity in faith and striving in the path of God.
