Abstract

UDK 329.73(497.15=163.43)

In the period 1939–1949, the association “Yung Muslims” was active in Bosnia and Hrzegovina. However, its short history has been studied in three periods: formative, (1939–1943), its activities within the role youth club of the Ilmiyyah Association (1943–1946) and the period in which it was functioning illegally (1946–1949) which ended by repression of the socialist state. The author here analyses the origin of the name of the association and is of the opinion that the association borrowed its name from the Egyptian Association. It is evident from the Arabic title of the Association „Aš-šubban-ul-muslimin“, as well as from the nature and the kind of endeavours of two ‘alims educated in Cairo: Mehmed-efendi Handžić and Kasim-efendi Dobrača. However, no functional links between Egyptian and Bosnian Associations have been established.
