Abstract

Fast development of technique and technology and its application in the field of medicine in the modern era have brought about new issues that stand as a challenge to the ethics, but also represent a challenge to each religion. Each of these upcoming issues is in its essence equally important and they all stand in such a correlation that makes them condition one another as well as a challenge to one another, as such they make one huge challenge in their collective as well as their individual relation towards man and nature. “Ethical aspect of fatwas concerning genetic engineering issued by Qaradawi” is primarily a research, due to depth and diversity of the field of genetic engineering as a part of genetics and medicine, but this article is also in a way a criticism, since it discusses the topic of genetic engineering from (the Islamic) ethical aspect, namely from the aspect of the fatwas of Yusuf al-Qaradawi. This article presents one field of genetics, that is genetic engineering, its place in the world of contemporary medicine, challenges that are facing the humanity when genetic engineering is actually applied and the positive and negative aspects of this application; the domain of its use and finally, the article offers detailed study of Yusuf Qaradawis fatwas regarding genetic engineering as well as fatwas that can be applied to the issues of genetic engineering.
