Traditional form of teaching class most often involving the frontal form of work is still used in our primary schools. The other forms of teaching that offer students possibility of active participation in the class is in lesser degree present. Innovations that provide students with motivation, higher degree of independence and participation in the class are very rare. The use of innovative tools like multimedia is present in rather small percentage. The purpose of this action research is to encourage students’ active participation in the class of Islamic religious studies through applying the work in pairs as a form of teaching class. In this research we noted following: – The work in pairs increases the active participation of students in teaching process as related to the frontal form of work – The use of different variables of pairs enhances student’s active participation in the class, it offers them more independence in working and learning and boosts students self-confidence – Degree of students active participation in the class is directly related to the teachers method of work and his creativity in planning the teaching class.
