In the following lines, through the legal rulings of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, the decisions of other academies of Islamic jurisprudence, and the views of contemporary Islamic scholars, this paper sheds light on issues related to the medical treatment of women by male physicians, cosmetic surgery performed on the bodies of men and women, and the positions of Islamic scholars regarding the beautification of women’s faces by means of contemporary products commonly referred to in the Bosnian language as “makeup.” These are dilemmas that Muslim families - particularly their female members - face on an almost daily basis, and therefore require further clarification from the perspective of Islamic law.
