Abstract

This text begins with the assumption that for a successful inter-religious dialogue it is important to clearly define its content and to separate serious theological discussions about redemption from those of social pluralism. In this text dialogue is defined as a form of communication whose aim is to, through discourse and action, improve understanding and built bridges of cooperation among the adherents of different religions for the sake of peaceful coexistence, tolerance and mutual respect. Subsequently, its key elements are identified (civilized communication, plurality of conviction, getting to know each other, life in peace, mutual respect and tolerance and cooperation for the common good) and an attempt is made at finding a basis for each one of them in Islamic sources and „the Platform of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina for Dialogue“. Finally, numerous examples of cooperation by God’s Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s. with non-Muslims are presented.
