Abstract

On September 27th 2022, in Sarajevo, Ilmiyyah Association of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina marked its
110th anniversary with an annual ceremony and the premiere of “Poema o bosanskom bijelom šehidu” (A Poem About Bosnian
White Martyr). Ilmiyyah Association functions as an integral part of the Islamic Community in BiH and it gathers imams,
muallims, Islamic Community employees as well as mudarrisses and professors of the Islamic faculties and madrasas. Its function
has a missionary character and was created as a part of the efforts of ulama safeguarding and preserving the Muslim community,
Muslim youth, and the employees of the Islamic Community in various phases in history. Marking this significant jubilee
we had a talk with the president of the Association, Nesib-ef. Hadžić about the Association’s projects, and mission of imams
as well as about the position and engagement of women in the managerial structure of the Ilmiyyah Association.
