THE TRANSLATIONS OF GHAZALl'S BOOKS, EPISTLES AND DISCUSSIONS IN THE BOSNIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract

The Muslim of Bosnia and Herzegovina are well acquainted wilh the colossal value of the work ofE bu Hamid Muhammad el-Ghazali. Many of his works and epistles have been translated into our language. Several arlicles, thematic of the life of this "outstanding personality of Islam" and his immeasurable contribution to the umma. It seems that not a single work or study, dealing with the approach to the works of imam Ghazali -in the sense of noting down and evaluating the translations of Ghazali's works and epistlcs, has been written in our language. Therefore, we have decided upon the writing of this work. We have emphasized three crucial traits of Ghazali's presence in our country and the translation of his words into our language as well. Aside from that, we also noted, and this becomes evidetl after reading the bibliographies of the translations, that this work is important because it draws attcntion to the unnecessary repclition of the translations of the same works by various translators.
