Osman-ef. Kavazović was born in 1953 in the village of Jelovče near Gradačac. He served as an imam in Mali Badić, municipality of Bosanska Krupa, and then in Brezovo Polje near Brčko. He was working in Brezovo Polje when the aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina started, and from there he joined the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was awarded ‘Zlatni Ljiljan’, the highest war award. He passed to the better world in 2023. Osman-ef. Kavazović published five books, 19 research works in scientific and academic magazines and over a hundred articles in the Preporod, Islamic newspaper. The author presents the fields of interest, methodology, and significance of Osman effendi Kavazović’s research work and his contribution to the studies of the cultural history of Bosniaks of northeast Bosnia.
